The Jolly Postman

This week we have been reading 'The Jolly Postman'. This book tells the story of a postman who delivers post to different fairy tale characters in story land. We drew maps to show the route taken by the Jolly Postman in the story and designed our own envelope and stamp to send to one of the characters. In literacy we created a postal address for a character in the story and wrote a postcard to the Giant.

Ideas for activities at home:
Encourage your child to learn their own address.
Write and send a letter or card, let your child do as much as possible.
Encourage your child to look at the post you send and receive during one week. Talk about where the letters came from and whether they are for business or pleasure.

End of half term, beginning of new!

We looked at 'Rumble in the Jungle' before half term and created different Jungle animals, here is our display.

We also looked at the African Savannah and the dry and wet seasons. We made split pin animals you would find there too.

Now we are back after a nice week off, feeling ready to start a busy half term, with the lead upto Christmas.
We are starting our new topic of 'Magical Journeys' in the next couple of weeks. But as its Bonfire Night we have looked at that this week, Thinking about how to stay safe. Here are a couple of our firework pictures.

We look forward to an exciting half term.

European Day of Languages

We had a wonderful day finding out about different countries in Europe.
In Mrs. Hickey's classroom we learnt about Switzerland, designing our own mountain scenes and tasting yummy Toblerone.
Did you know Switzerland is famous for its chocolate, cheese, watches and Alpine areas.

Week 4

Here is the display of our Wild Things and footprints.
We then started to look at the story of the 'Gruffalo', we role played the story of the Gruffalo pretending to be the different animals and also played a Gruffalo game in P.E.
We have also looked at the continent South America and made our own clay snakes (which still need to be painted!) and created nice colourful snakes to hang around the classroom!!
