End of year

Well we had a fun packed few months at the end of term. The children thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics topic but it was a shame we didn't get to do sports day.
We only had to move out of the classroom for a couple of weeks and I was proud of Year 1 for their behaviour. I hope they enjoy their new classroom.
Hope you have all day a wonderful summer, shame about the weather and I'm sure I will see you soon to introduce you to baby Isaac.

Just before Easter all of Year 1 went to Evesham Arts Centre to perform our Lion King dance. Here are some photos of us in costume with our face paints. We had a great time and we got to see lots of other schools (mostly older than us) perform different dances.

Also before half term we had a Eco-DT week and we made some Bug houses to attract more bugs, here are some pictures of us making it.

Since we have come back after Easter, we have started our new topic of 'Where we live', we have looked at different plants around school and today we have been around the village to find out what facilities there are. We then looked at a map of Evesham and looked at what there is there and we found out that there is lots more because it is a town. We have been going out and counting and how many we have attracted, why not pop into our classroom to see our Eco board.
We are now in our last term as Year 1 children and are working really hard, getting ready for Year 2!!

We now know all about the Great Fire of London and that it started in 1666 in Pudding Lane. We have made some pastel drawings of the Great Fire and then we made Tudor houses. After all our hardwork we recreated the GREAT FIRE OF LONDON is the playground. Here are some pictures from our DT day and the burning.

We have visited the Farm and had a fantastic day building towers out of spaghetti and making bridges for the River Thames. We had races and then had a lovely afternoon in the forest area.

Last Friday we all dressed up as book characters and celebrated World Book Day, here is what we looked like!

February Update.

Since our last update we have finished our topic on 'Around the World with Animals' and we finally visited Australia and visited the Great Barrier Reef and then we looked at Extinct and Endangered Animals. We finished our topic off my visiting 'Cotswold Wildlife Park' and really, really enjoyed it. Here are a few photos from our visit.

We have now started on new topic on 'LONDON' which we are so enthusiastic about. We have learnt how London is different to Sedgeberrow, how London has changed over the years and we are now looking at 'The Great Plague'. How it was started by the fleas and rats, what the symptoms were and how they thought they could cure it.

We cannot wait to see what we learning about next!

Th Christmas Play!!

Since coming back at Christmas we have continued with our topic 'Around the World with Animals.' We have visited Mexico, Kenya, China and are currently in Australia.

In Mexico we looked at the differece between City and Countryside, we wrote a description about the jungle and made some Mexican shakers aswell as making some Jungle animals.

While in China we celebrated Chinese New Year and make Chinese Dragons and Lanterns.

We are looking at Aboriginal Art so when they are completed I will put some pictures up here.

The children seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed this topic and have really worked hard on remembering all the continents and countries.
